Day 9 – 25/8 Allan at church

28 08 2007

Day9-25/8

Yesterday we arrived at the town area at 6.20pm but discovered that 7.30pm is the last bus back. So we decided against going to Walmart.  But we plan to do it after church today.

We went to worship at Calvary Chapel, an inter-denomination church.  We were surprised by the casual wear – in Bermudas and simple Hawaiian shirts. The Pastor was in jeans and casual shirt :)

Well the service started with prayer and greetings and songs but I could hardly hear the congregation or myself singing as the music was a little too loud. I guess at my age, its difficult to adapt so easily and I still prefer our way of worship provided all those who share are truly led by the Spirit and share from their heart.

We went to Walmart after church and I bought a few things – socks, t-shirts, chocolate… Then we went over to the Ross.  This place sells branded stuff at special prices – not sure why.  I bought a number of under wear and Calvin Klien jeans.  Wow, must come back for more branded stuffs.

Day 8 – 25/8 – Allan at Haggai Institute

28 08 2007

Day 8-25/8

The other night I discovered that I actually have internet access in my room from a white plug; all this while I thought that it must be a blue plug.  I have been taking my laptop to the lobby area to get online. How silly! Anyway this makes thing so much more convenient but can be bad as I am sleeping a little later now for the past 2 nights.  The speed here is faster and it is more enjoyable getting on line.

I am looking forward to the evening as we finish class early. Plan to go out to Walmart.

Day 6 – 23/8 from Maui, Hawaii

28 08 2007

Day6-23/8

I woke up about 4am this morning and was not able to go back to sleep.  I spent some time in prayer and decided to write to all my children and encourage them.

The day went on by quickly and we had a video session with John Haggai.  I think he is in his late 70s but he spoke with much dynamism and enthusiasm on appealing for a ‘Verdict’ for over an hour.  I am very challenged by his message to ensure that I call for a decision in all sermons that I preach in the future.

Office renovations

26 08 2007

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we are upgrading and extending the office due to space constraints and I decided that I should have it done now when Allan is away so that he need not be stressed by the renovation works.

Actually, these pictures are for Allan to look at, so the rest of you can skip this post la…….

Another view of the new office area – you see the things under the plastic sheets, those are our computers and desks…. ya, we’ll have to clean up the mess and dust tomorrow (Monday) when we start work again.

All these took 7 days to complete.  I estimate another 7 days for the rest of the work, ie, the ceiling, electrical, air cond fittings, large panel mirrors for the living room which will be the new studio area, & paint works.  Lastly, we’ll have install the gates & pave the porch.

More pictures as the work progresses……..

ISKL yesterday…….

26 08 2007

verons-sunburnt-face.jpg

I got sunburnt. Even my lips were burnt!

Yesterday we had a big job at ISKL for the primary school carnival.  With Allan away, I felt the responsibility fell on me to be at the venue to help oversee things. I thought that I would be there for only an hour or so but I ended up being there the entire day.

I want to thank God

……………….for the provision of the job……

……. for most of the people who worked really hard, the crew and our loyal staff, David, John, Kevin, Han Sze, for our entertainers, Ravi and gang………

…… for some people who didn’t do so well, it was a reminder of how much God loves me despite my weaknesses and how He is patient with me despite everything….

………for the patience of the client when things actually did go wrong ……….

………. for the wisdom He gave me to trouble shoot …………

…… for the lesson in faith when things went wrong and there was nothing I could do…….

………… for my son who wisely kept quiet and helped me when he realised how stressed and tired out I was…………..

Office upgrading….

23 08 2007

With Allan away, I took the opportunity to “upgrade” the office.  Somehow I prefer to use the word upgrade instead of renovation.  Why?  Maybe because I really feel it is not just renovating, we are upgrading – space, looks and hopefully after this, attitudes!

(Space reserved for pics of the office)

I’m hoping (and hoping and hoping and hoping …..) that the new, clean and more beautiful environment will make the Allan and Friends’ Staff more careful about how they treat the office space, that is, to really enjoy and respect it instead of treating it like a junk yard.

This week I am really tired out.  The children are on holiday and it usually means more work.  They are growing up now and have more activities, so its more “mum, can you send me to…. and to ….. and at xxxx time I have a practice, so can you send me to church” and so on and so forth!

Today I took Angie to the dentist and brought Andrea along because we went for our long awaited Petro Science trip.  We planned to go some 3 years ago and never did because we just had too many things to do every holiday. So I’m glad we finally made it.  How was it? Well, it would be fantastic for anyone who has never been to any other science centre like say, our neighbours across the straits, but if you have been there, then this one is ok la.

No matter, the girls still enjoyed themselves. The helicopter simulater was pretty fun although it stopped about 3 mins into the ride and had to re-start.  The girls enjoyed the pipe slide.

What was impressive? Well I must say it was the cheerful and hardworking staff and volunteers.  It must be tough to explain the same thing over and over again, but they did and no complains as far as I can see.

Oh, and Andrea is still under the child fare for the ticket, and until the 31st of August, the first 50 children get to go in free:)

My friend, Kok Loke came back to KL with his family for a holiday and we spent the rest of the day with them, catching up.
