The day after the “stay-over” at Stansted – London, here we come :)

9 09 2009

Continuing from my story yesterday, we stayed the night at Stansted airport. The next morning, we both got up early (this IS an airport, not a comfortable hotel with a nice warm bed), cleaned up at the toilet (which are very clean), and bought breakfast from Burger King, then made our way downstairs to the bus terminal for our trip into London City.

Internet access is terribly expensive

TELEPHONE : I bought a sim card pack from T-Mobile from the hotel counter just outside international arrivals. Paid 20 pounds and got 10 pounds talk time. DON’T DO THAT!!!

If you go into London, look for LEBARA SIm packs. You DON’T have to pay for the SIM card and the cost is only 4p for calling back to Malaysia, can’t remember the rate for local calls though. We bought 2 SIM packs of 5 pounds each so that we could call each other FREE!!! It was better than re-filling the T-mobile line.

It wasn’t going to be a terribly good week, weather wise.

This terminal is impressively clean and well organised

I mentioned yesterday that you can get Easy bus from 2 pounds onwards- this is the cheapest bus and one of the faster ones too. We got our tickets for about 7.99 per person. And by the way, the bus arrives on time and LEAVES ON TIME too!

Was amused by this hammer, and got thinking that it is so necessary.

On the way to London. We opted to stop at Baker street.

We felt like we wanted to walk, and so, walk we did! We walked from Baker Stree to our hotel at Bedford Avenue, off Tottenham road.

Our hotel – got this through a Malaysian friend who stays in London.

Its very good in terms of the locality  – just outside the Tottenham Underground STation.

Rooms are small, just like the ones in Hong Kong, BUT we appreciated it.

The shower cubicle is not for the grossly overweight!

Like I said, the rooms are small, but then, this IS London, and St Giles IS at the centre of town

I placed my hand lotion next to the toothpaste and the next thing I knew, Allan came out from the bathroom, scolding me for it – erm, he thought it was the toothpaste – poor fella 😦
